Signing Ceremony The Extension of Competency Training Agreement between NIBM and CSIRO
9 October 2025 I The National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) has renewed its Competency Training Agreement with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia.
The signing ceremony was signed by NIBM Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Prof. Datuk Wira Dr. Raha binti Abdul Rahim, FASc, and CSIRO Research Director, Professor Dr. Susie Nilson. The signing was witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr Syahrilnizam Bin Abdullah, Director of Malaysia Genome and Vaccine Institute (MGVI), and Dr. Patrick James, CSIRO Group Lead Regulated Biomanufacturing.
The event was honoured by the presence of Mr. Simon Fellows, Deputy High Commissioner of Australia and Ts. Dr. Radin Zulhazmi bin Radin Abdul Halim, Deputy Undersecretary of the Strategic Technology and S&T Application Division.
Guests were also taken on a site visit to the Good Manufacturing (GMP) facility for vaccine, which is currently under construction, where they were briefed on the facility’s development progress.
The signing will formalize the extensive collaboration efforts between NIBM and CSIRO and will extend the active duration of the existing Competency Training Agreement. Through this deed of variation, CSIRO will continue to deploy its experts to deliver hands-on training and capacity-building programmes for Malaysian talent, particularly in microbial-based vaccine process development
