NIBM - National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia

National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (NIBM) is a consortium of three national biotechnology institutes – Malaysian Institute of Pharmaceuticals & Nutraceuticals (IPHARM), Agro-Biotechnology Institute Malaysia (ABI), and Malaysia Genome & Vaccine Institute (MGVI), established on 27 January 2012 as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG), an autonomous not-for-profit entity to administer IPHARM, ABI and MGVI.
In 2011, the Cabinet agreed to corporatize ABI, IPHARM, and MGVI into NIBM. NIBM is a not-for-profit entity established to enhance the operational efficiency of biotechnology institutes. The main objective of NIBM is to streamline decision-making and eliminate government procedural barriers. NIBM sets priorities for R&D activities, focusing on commercialization and strengthening the R&D ecosystem. NIBM aims to transform Malaysia into a global biotechnology hub through strategic planning and innovation. The management of NIBM is centralized at its Headquarter Office (HQ) for better coordination and efficiency.
