GUIDELINE FOR TRAVEL GRANT AWARD
1. Introduction
The Travel Grant Award is an esteemed recognition presented to exceptional post-graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions in their academic pursuits. This award aims to support the financial needs of the students to participate in the event, encourage further growth and development in their respective fields of study by facilitating participation in conferences, workshops, or other relevant events of educational and professional significance.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To eligible for the Travel Grant Award, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
a) An applicant must be currently enrolled as a postgraduate student in an accredited academic institution.
b) As the presenting author for the abstract that has been submitted for oral / poster presentation.
c) Have made significant contributions to research, innovation, or the broader academic community.
d) Eligible applicants must reside outside Penang or outside Malaysia.
e) Demonstrate a clear and specific need for financial assistance to cover travel-related expenses for attending the event.

3. Award Details
a) The Travel Grant Award will provide financial support to cover the recipient’s travel-related expenses.
b) The exact amount of the award and the number of recipients will be determined by the symposium organizer based on available funding and the merit of the applications.
4. Application Process
a) Interested candidates must submit a formal application form for the Grant Travel Award. The application must include the following:
- Personal information: Full name, contact details, academic institution and program of study
- Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume summarising academic achievements, research contributions and relevant experiences
- Registered post-graduate student must show proof of full-time student card
- Statement (max 300 words) outlining the significance of the event, its relevance to the applicant’s academic and professional goals, and the potential impact of attending the event on their research and career
b) The application process will have a defined deadline and late submissions may not be considered.
5. Selection Criteria
a) Applications will be evaluated by the NBS Scientific Committee. The committee will assess the applications based on the following criteria:
- Academic excellence and achievements
- Research contributions and impact
- Relevance and significance of the event to the applicant’s field of study and career goals
6. Award Announcement and Disbursement
a) The selected postgraduate student will be notified of their selection and provided with further instructions regarding the award disbursement process.
b) The grant amount will be disbursed directly to the recipient.
7. Confidentiality
All applications and the information provided therein will be treated with strict confidentiality by the selection committee and awarding institution.
