What's Covered in the Workshop?

Guidance, demonstration and hands-on training by facilitators on plant tissue culture, basics of plant tissue culture techniques from media preparations, surface sterilization of explants (small tissues), aseptic (Sterile) techniques, micropropagation, acclimatization of tissue culture plantlets as well as commercial applications.

Workshop Tentative:

Day 1:
- Theory 1: Introduction to plant tissue culture.
- Theory 2: Plant micropropagation and media preparation
- Practical 1: Aseptic techniques, laboratory design and media preparation
- Practical 2: Surface sterilization

Day 2:
- Practical 3: Micropropagation, aseptic transfer and subculturing of plantlets.
- Practical 4: Callus induction, somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis
- Practical 5: Rooting of plantlets, acclimatization and plant hardening
- Practical 6: Initiation of liquid cultures in shake flask.
- Certificate presentation
